What's the best way to dye brown hair blue?

Hey,
if I have brown hair what would I need to do for blue dye to hold better? would striping/ bleaching before adding blue dye work best? I want just a blue streak but like...electric blue so dying it on to my natural colour will bring it out...

too dark.
and e idea?

Believe it or not, I did this once. I wanted electric blue hair. I did it to ALL of my hair, though. I need to ask you some questions before I can give you correct advice. By the way, I am a licensed cosmotologist so I am not just talking out of my butt here.

you have to pre lighten it first bleach it out. You may want to get a bleach that has a tone to it so your hair doesn't come out brassy. You may also have to bleach it more than once depending how dark your hair is. then get a semi permanent blue the semi permanent doesn't have ammonia or peroxide so you can put it on as often as you want or whenever it starts fading . make sure you deep condition good after bleaching you don't want you hair to get badly damaged or breakage

I've dyed my hair literally every colour-natural and unnatural-and I have dark brown hair. The dye I like best would be N'Rage hairdye. It's bleach mixed with dye, so it's just one step.

However, if this is your first time dying your hair an unnatural colour, I suggest going to a salon or listening to MonicaCharlene (first answer) because she'd know more than most other people to give advice.

I did my hair blue once.

I had to bleach it 3 times to get ti the right yellowish tint to dye it blue
ut then again my hair black before hand
but still

after that try adn get permanet color cause eventhough ti permanet it doesnt stay.
I had to redye mine blue agian within 3 months.

Well, i too want to dye my hair blue,a nd my hair is sorta a shade of brown... i have never done it, but all of my friends said if you want the blue to show, and last longer, bleach/lighten your hair first, and it will make the blue dye show up so much better.
