Blind dog?

Okay so I have a 5 year old chihuahua.

At night when you look at a dog its pupils are extremely big and they appear as a green sort of color.

My dog’s right eye’s pupil is like that all the time and her left eye is completely normal.

Does anyone have any clue why?

If your dogs “lens” is covered in white, even during the day (and not just reflective at night)… there is an infection…their corneas get ulcerated. This dog needs to see a vet, for some antibiotic drops…

it may just have an ulcer. I would check it out with a vet. do you do test on your chi with your hands to see if it can see from the sides and any motion

The reason dogs eyes turn colors at night is because of a lens they have called the corpus luteum, not all animals have, just because hers does that all the time doesnt exactly mean shes blind in that eye, you should take her to your vet because they know how to test her to see if she has sight loss in that eye, also like harleyrider said you could snap your finger in front of the eye to see if she responds but that could provide false info because she could see it coming in the other eye and respond for both eyes. Another useful bit of information is that a dog memorizes where things are in the house so if shes getting around the house fine, try to move some furniture around and see what happens but then again she could just be relying on the other eye.
