I have to say, even though I continue to have to deal with problems in the area, that it's a bad idea in general.

First off, it could be be marked off as idolatry or lust, assuming you're not an absolute liberal(and I'm pretty close, myself).

But I preach against it because no matter what, it's addicting, and potentially damaging. If you're doing it consistently, or can not stop at any time that you want for an indefinite period, you're addicted.

Also, I get a LOT of cramps *there* while I abstain. And they were worse when I was active. Like if I did it at night just before bed, or after trying to abstain after a couple of days, it would be horrible. Of course, some might attempt to dismiss this as a personal ailment, but I have associates who have experienced similar complications.

There are some studies that show having sex more than three times a week can be unhealthy for your immune system. From my experience, masturbation isn't much better. Was sick as a dog this past winter, after going nearly 3 years of perfect health. My addiction was also at an all out high this past year, which is why I'm trying to quit.

I also noticed a severe difference in my social reactions. I tended to be more impulsive mentally when someone said something that could only be remotely insulting, assuming they were trying to be, though I am glad to say I rarely acted on those impulses due to my personal discipline(which has helped with the opposite sex, also). And then as I was going through withdrawal, I guess you can call it, I would either be cranky or slightly depressed. Only now am I starting to level out.

Let me tell you, it is a VERY temporary relief for things like stress. And if what you're parents raised you on makes you feel guilty, that only makes the snap back worse. Think of a rubber band. You can pull it back pretty easily, but the farther back you pull it, the more forceful it is when it snaps forward, or just flat out breaks.

Sheeezzz, you people and sex. Don't listen to the bible. It is perfectly normal and healty activity. But like anything, if it becomes an obsessive habit, it could be a problem. But what the bible says about it is meaningless. Why would you look to a book written by ancient superstitious men for answers about normal biological functions?

Whatever is not from faith is sin, and whoever looks upon a women lustfully has committed adultery with her in his heart.

You must judge for yourself, if you are a Christian, and by masturbating you feel guilty, it is probably wrong for you, or if you need to look upon woman in a lustful way, objectifying them as mere objects for your pleasure, it is probably wrong.

But I say probably, because only God knows the heart, and I do not sit in a place to judge. If you need help recognizing for yourself whether it is a sin for you, see if you have control over it, if it rules over you, instead of Christ, then it could be a problem. If you have control over the urges, and you aren't addicted to it, you don't feel guilty about it, and you don't need to look lustfully at a woman to do it, then I'd say it probably isn't wrong. But that isn't for me to decide. Just advice. = )

There's nothing in the Bible against masturbation, and if there were, you could safely ignore it. The Bible is just a collection of ancient texts.

Essentially there is nothing wrong with masturbation in the bible but the real problem here is that it makes the pages stick together.
