Gravol usually makes you drowsy...I take it when I can't sleep

Just regular doses though, and don't use it every night

I take generic type of Tylenol PM. It doesn't put me to sleep, but I tend to sleep longer without waking up during the night.

Im assuming that if your doctor now refuses to prescribe anymore sleeping pills its because you have abused them.

No OTC sleeping pill will match what you had prescription wise as the strength will be half of what you are used to. I'm curious if you have grown to be dependent on such drugs??

If you are young, you shouldn't need chemicals to help you sleep. Regular hours are your best bet. Get some excercise during the day to burn off excess energy. Go to bed at the same time every evening, get up the same time every morning. Don't do anything overly stimulating before you go to bed; I.e., no horror movies, no violent movies, no car chase movies, no loud Metallica music. Don't drink 3 cups of Espresso or a can of Jolt Cola and expect to go to sleep an hour later. Instead, set aside the hour before bedtime for peaceful, relaxing activities. Take a warm relaxing bath, read a book, listen to soothing, peaceful music, take time to jot down your day in your diary. Don't accept phone calls for 1 hour before you retire. Just let your body wind down from the day's activities so you are relaxed and ready to sleep. Keep your room cool, and don't pile on too many blankets. You WANT your body to cool down, which helps the natural lowering of your body temperature. Within a week you should discover you don't need any assistance with sleep at all. It should come naturally to you.
