What is the best (free) software to protect my private files from being viewed by others

Login as administrator (usually if it's your personal computer, your account is admin by default, etc).

Then right click the folder set it to password protect, that way others can't view the contents, etc. This is built into windows, so, no need to get any extra software installed.
