Bad to find buddhism interesting?

king of pop 1958-2009 Asked by angel06 3 months ago, 7 answers.

I am a christian and I really believe in God, but I find Buddhism interesting. My friend is Buddhist and I am just interested to know what that religion is all about. Is this wrong?

It's never bad to find something interesting and want to learn about it. Learn as much as you can about everything, including other religions. The more you know, the more of an educated decision you can make. In my eyes, there is no 'right' or 'wrong' religion. None of them have it all figured out but they all have something to offer.

NOOO ITS NOT WRONG, I remember learning about Buddhism and their 3 gods, sheeva, budha, and the other guy. It was very fun to learn what cultures used this and how it was created, their lore is pretty cool too. I think a natural curiosity in all of us NEEDS to know things. And won't be satisfied until it has.

Go ahead, You haven't revoked your religion or anything anyway, so I don't see how its wrong even with the christian BS.

I read different beliefs and even find some value in some of the stuff they believe.
The thing is does it conflict with Christian belief?
Would believing something they believe go against the Christian belief?

Like I can believe that there is a ying yan to life but getting too deep into the philosphies of it may go against Christian teaching is wrong.

Buddhism as originally developed did not have no Gods at all, only how to get to be enlightened, the Gods came later so in it's pure essence it is more like a philosophy than a religion

Of course its not wrong. Its good to learn more about other religions, so you can interact with those who are Buddhist. God will not punish you - you are just interested. =)

To learn about something new even a religion is not against your beliefs, as you yourself are not practising it, you are just getting information and learning about it, as long as it doesn't affect or intrude upon your beliefs then it is fine, but at the same time if you start to feel that you can identify with Buddhism more then you may even want to become a Buddhist.
Buddhism tho is not a religion, so to speak, there is no god or deity and so not a proper religion as there is no higher power involved... it's a very interesting subject and there are many interesting views and theories, enjoy and just allow your mind to learn. There is nothing wrong with that.
