Baby robins

Asked by dinosaurlover 4 months ago, 5 answers.

I just found two baby robins on my porch (three if you count their dead little sibling). We put them back in their nest and are waiting for the mother to return. We are trying to keep them alive but I am wondering if I should keep them inside at night so...

I can be sure they are fed every couple of hours. I've watched the mom with the babies since the hatched and before. She is not so great with the babies. She had five eggs to start with and she pitched two out of the nest. The nest was never built in a safe place and we've had to keep nudging it back into place. Now with only 2/5 of the orriginal babies alive and the mother not returning, I am wondering what to do! I love animals and am very worried for them! What do I do?

Sorry but are you smoking that hash. If you touched them birds with your hands right then the mother will reject them cause of the human scent on them.. I know you love animals and all but sound like you basically just killed those birds... no mother no warmth... no more sweet 16.. no more getting drunk for the first time... sorry about the bad news but I got some good news you can save 10 percent by switching to geico!

sorry 334bama but you're an dick. There was no need to be rude. If those chicks were on the ground it was right to put it back into the nest, bird's in fact has a poor sense of smell so all this 'human scent' non-sense is just an urban myth. And as for the building a nest on the ground, a robin would not endanger itself and it's chicks just for the possibility for the chick's to survive, sry but you two should have some common sense. dinosaurlover was right.

Goodd news! Thanks dwb91. Oh and for metz I did use common sense! 334bama don't be a jerk. Well, the mom came back and the babies are living and healthy. I'm also glad that I put them in the nest. I live in a really hot place and it got to be 100 degrees yesterday. They were sitting there sizzling in the sun. I did feed them bread by hand every two hours until the mother got back though. Thanks for the help.
