I think people will always believe in a higher power. some need that in their life to explain the things they don't understand. also, people will still rely on god to forgive them for mistakes they can't forgive themselves for. no matter the advance in technology, unless we evolve into some species that relies solely on logic, theories of god will always thrive.
If humans are still around then, I foresee some possible worlds:
1) Everyone will have augmented intelligence. The theory of everything will have been discovered, and even children will comprehend it. there will be no wonder left in regard to understanding nature and everyone will be an atheist as a result. Quantum simulations will have recreated our universe exactly, and so they will be able to explicitly watch how the history of religion evolved.
2) We will all be dumb as dirt, having relegated our care to machines. We will think of the machines as gods. Christians will have twisted whatever contemporary events are going on into a story as to why Jesus just has to come back any day.
3) Machine super intelligence will discover a real proof for a god, and everyone will be a theist.
No, I do not believe that, one because by then maybe humans will be extinct and everyone needs to believe in a religion or needs that closure of something else being out there except for just nothingness, its been proving believing in a religion (any) is better...etc
We won't discover all the mysteries of the universe even in 3,000 years. Every scientific discovery poses more questions than it answers. I'm sure we will solve a lot of mysteries but we will uncover even more.
Man by nature is religious. I'm not sure what our religion will be like millenia from now but there will be some sort of religion.
I would say the West will become more secular in the next 50-100 years. But by 5200? Think about how things have changed in the last 3000 years. Going that far into the future is difficult.
Religion itself has changed drastically since then. Around 3000 years ago, there was no organized religion; religious beliefs, practices and deities were localized and mostly polytheistic. Things like conversion, doctrine, and theology were not a part of religious life. In the next 3000 years, religion will go through many more changes.
If I had to guess, I would say that by then, most societies will no longer have religious authorities. Priests, clergy, and other members of the religious caste will be very rare. We've already seen this trend over the last several hundred years, as religious figures and institutions have less power over their followers, both in the East and West.
TO SEMI 1900:

-You said that there was no organized Monotheistic religion 3,000 years ago, but the Vedic Civilization has been existing for billions of years and the Vedas itself were written billions of years ago. What proof do you have for your comment.

Well, off the top of my head, I'd have to say my proof is every historical record in existence up to this point.
As arachnid points out, what you've said about the Vedic civilization really has no proof whatsoever. It is true the Vedics were one of the oldest civilizations, with origins going back possibly 9000 years ago. However, to say they've been around for billions of years flies in the face of everything archaeologists have discovered about them.
Besides, how is this even relevant to the discussion? The Vedics in their religious life were polytheistic and offered sacrifices to appease the forces of nature. It's basically how Hinduism started. They're actually a good example of what I was trying to say about ancient religion.
I hate to say it, but you have yet to convince anyone that you're not just making stuff up as you go along.
