Metal has so many different sub-genre's that it is hard for me to recommend anything that you would like. Personally, I like Thrash, which is to say MetallicA, PanterA (post-thrash), TestAmenT, Overkill, Megadeth, Exodus, etc. Progressive is also pretty good, this is stuff like Dream Theater, Symphony X and Tiamat. Many people like Death, that would be like Necrophagia, Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse. As for plain old Hard Rock, you would be good with the classics, of course (Zeppelin, AC/DC) but newer is hard to find. The most stuff that fits strictly into Hard Rock is probably Tool. I'm sorry this was so long, and I hope it helps!
