There's nothing inherently wrong with beginning sentences with conjunctions (and, or, but). It is an age-old rule taught in grade-schools, probably to prevent people from using incomplete sentences (Example: I have a cat. And a dog.)
If your teacher hasn't specifically said not to use conjunctions to start sentences, it is usually grammatically fine to do so, as long as the sentence is complete.
Hope that helps
authors use things like that, even though it is gramatically incorrect, to most people at least, because it helps keep the pace going. like if in dialoge, somebody interupts and says, "... And it's ..." it's basically something you have to be practiced at to get corretly, and sometimes the way we put it, is a lot more applicable than the way the computer says. in my novels I'm writing, I ignore the grammar thing, because I know how it's supposed to be, even if it doesn't .( sometimes, grammar also depends on the people and language, or the culture)
Being a writer myself, I've used AND at the beginning of a sentence, but you have to know how to do it. You can't just have an incomplete sentence or people will think you are not intelligent. There is a fine line of how to do it, and you have to be an experienced writer to use it correctly. You also have to have a teacher that is as intelligent as you are.

Can you begin a sentence with "and"?
Send me Fun Mail
Hey all,
I'm writing up a physics paper and I wrote a sentence that came up as grammatically incorrect. So I clicked to change it but now it doesn't sound right. It's all to do with starting a sentence with 'and'. I was just wondering is it actually grammatically incorrect or just something your not meant to do? Authors have been placing 'and' at the start of sentences for years but one of my teachers have said in the past its incorrect. Cheers!
