okay. so I'm 14 and I'm dating a 18 year old. my dad wants to get a restraining order against him because he thinks its illigal for us to date I keep telling him that as long as we dont have sex, then its legal. he doesnt believe me.. can someone help...

You're right in the sense that it's illegal for you two to have sex because in Canada the age of consent is 16. But this is where the wrong part comes in:

Even though you are dating him, he could be charged with like child molestation or something like that because of your young-er age. It really depends if the law defines making out as part of it being against the law to do it with someone who is under 16 if you are over 18.

Im, 14 and im dating a 19 year old. Most of the time I live in Texas but when I vist my mother I live in canada for like a few months. Yeah its illegal to have sex in Canada because of the age consent but All I can say is that you can't put a age limit on love. no, its not illegal to date
it is illegal to have sex yes, because he is over the legal age of consent, and you are under it
so if you do have sex, he can be charged with rape wether you agree to it or not and be sent to jail
but there arnt any laws saying you cant date someone whos older than you
though you do need to wonder why an 18 year old man wants to be with a 14 year old child
