Is it better to get D's and C's in academic subjects, or A's and B's in in less academic subjects?

is it better to get D’s and C’s in academic subjects, (english or maths), or A’s and B’s in in less academic subjects (media, re) A-LEVEL’s?

Answer #1

Not really. A D is still a fail (where I live at least). I do know though towards the end of high school Bs and Cs in subjects such as Physics, Bio, Chem and high level Maths are worth much more than As in less academic subjects.

Answer #2

ahh okay thanks! its just if i take an academic subject i woulod be afraid of failing and then it be a waste of an alevel!xox

Getting a C will be a pass and aslong as you get a C or higher in Maths,English and Science then thats fine, regarding the A’s and B’s in less academic subjects, an A is an A it is as impressive on Media as it would be for English.

Answer #5

Well according to my school academic subjects are more important and they say you should strive to get A*-C on it, but a lot of friends are taking photography, media, film studies as an A-level it’s never a waste of an A-level if it was they wouldn’t offer the subjects and like Maggie said getting an A is the same in any subject they’re all difficult.

Answer #6

As long as you’re trying and not just trying to squeeze by, there should be no reason to get below a C. The only reason for going lower is if you don’t understand the material.

I was very bad at academic subjects, but never asked for help so I failed a few classes. My best subjects were my electives like Japanese Business, and Web Design. I still graduated with a decent GPA because I started trying in my Junior year.

Answer #7

Technically it is better to have higher grades in academic subjects. HOWEVER, if the kind of job you want or college/uni course you are interested in in the future is less traditionally academic then of course it is better for you to exceed there. =]

Answer #8

To be honest, it’s better to get As and Bs in the subjects you love, the ones that will affect your career and what you want to study later on. What good does an A in Chemistry and Maths do if you want to be an actress or a designer?? How helpful is top-of-the-class in Art & Graphic design if you want to be a doctor?

Answer #9

where i live if you get a d you are still passing that class. they started it a few years ago because so many people were getting d’s. but for your specific question its better to get a’s and b’s in academic subjects and a’s b’s and c’s in less academic classes
