What does everyone think about abortion?

I am pro-choice.

also, I wonder why not one of the anti-abortion answers mentions anything about promoting birth control use, working to change the adoptions laws making it easier to adopt, or mandatory sex education in schools.

it seems the only answers you have are that is a sin, it is wrong and you should give it away. surrendering your baby for adoption is easy. adopting that baby is not. it is expensive and many wonderful candidates are unable to afford to adopt, or one of the spouses is a little older than allowed, etc.

shouldn't you use your zeal and righteousness to work to prevent the pregnancy in the first place? countries that have mandatory sex education in the schools and easy access to birth control have a lower unwed birth rate.

and is it enough for the baby just to be born? shouldn't you also work for better free childcare programs, better free education, better free healthcare? most of these babies, that you insist must be born, are born into a low-income, dead-end environment. they need care, education and medical services.

Well im 18, I think im pregnant, I've yet to find out for definate, I dont know what im going to do but I know I dont agree with abortion unless its something like if youg ot pregnant and found out ya had aids and ya kids gunna have it, or if you were raped and thts why your pregnant, or its severly disabled and not gunna have any kind of life, things like that I think are ok. but I dont think it should be allowed for people who have an accident due to irrisponsilibity, like myself or at least after 10 weeks.

I HATE it under any circumstances. im very against abortion and dont know why this form of murder ir legal! anyone who gets/performs abortions should be ashamed of themselves! They have no right to take away an innocent child's right to live.

I think its wrong. Taking someone's life who hasn't even had a chance to live. There are also certain circumstances I'm not sure on. Like if a girl gets raped, I mean really its her choice, but other than that I think its very wrong.

In my opinion I am pro-choice. I personally wouldn't ever make my girlfriend or wife get an abortion. I look at it like this... The argument that everyone makes is that people should get the choice to do what they want but that's really not that true. The baby doesn't really get to have a choice because their a lower being. I know that sounds harsh but if you think about it high beings make desions for me all the time. Like if im drafted I have to go to war and I have to pay taxes because thats the law and I have to do it.

Im pro-choice. Sort of. I only KIND OF am okay with abortion if a woman is raped, or the pregnancy chould be harmful to her health. But other than that, I think that If your having unprotected sex, then you need to be ready to raise a child.

It's wrong! Under any circumstance. IF they got raped, yeah it's bad but it doesn't mean you should kill another human being just because it isn't born yet. Do you know how they kill it? They drill a hole into the babies head and suck out its brains with a vacuum type thing then they have to give birth to it. It can feel everything it is going through! Just think, if your parents had an abortion you wouldn't be here and I don't think you would want that. There are millions of people who want kids but aren't as fortunate, so they adopt. Murder is illegal, abortion is murder, so therefor should abortion be illegal to? It's a doublestandard and it's stupid. Don't kill someone who hasn't even had a chance to see the world! The child has no say in what happening.

In my eyes, it is a horrible thing and noone should EVER do it!
I was pregnant twice, but I has miscarriages and after that just for having them live inside me for a month was heart acheing. I could never imagine killing a poor baby on purpose, just because they made a mistake. If they can have sex, they should be able to pay the consiquenses. (sp)

Ok, I think it's crazy to consider a fetus or whatever a human being. I would have as much sympathy over that as I would over an ant. It does have the potential to be a human being, but so does every sperm an egg cell. I find it irresponsible if it is used as a form of birth control, other then that it's a personal choice and I'm not going to judge it.

Abortion is ungodly and murder. I absolutely think that abortion should be illegal. If a young girl gets pregnant & doesnt want the baby. give it up to a famliy that does what so take care of one, don't kill it for jesus christ! If you didnt want to get pregnant you should have thought about that when you had sex with a guy. Babies dont ask to be killed. I mean come on people have some freakin common since.

most abortions dont involve a baby with a already made brain, when they have the choice to abort its just a mass of cells that they scrape off of you.

but its really not a good option for young (and old) teenage girls who cant keep it in there pants and wear a condom
girls (as well as guys) like that need to be way more educated about these things before they go off having sex

I have no problem with it at all if it's done before the brain and pain receptors form (first trimester), after that I'm increasingly uncertain. But since I'm uncertain, I err on the side of the mother, since there is no doubt as to her status as a person.

No-one has memories earlier than around 3 months post birth, suggesting that even young infants have not yet attained consciousness.

To recap my view,

I love all these people who say it's 'wrong' and have no scientific evidence to back up why. Just that it's a 'person'. It's a glob of flesh that is literally attached to the mother by a cord---technically a parasite, not a person. If the Mother cannot mentally or physically care for the child, there is nothing wrong, in my opinion, from getting an abortion. It's much better than bringing babies into the world where they will grow up unloved and unhappy.

The only time I disagree with abortion is when it is in the final trimester of a pregnancy, and/or the person elects to repeatedly use abortion as a method of birth control.

No, abortion should never be the answer. Think about it. You were once an egg in your mother's stomach. How would you feel if you were killed before you were even born? (not that you could feel anything); but you get my point. Just have the baby and give it to a family that really needs it, if thats what you need to do!

I wouldnt have cared if I wasnt born, because I wouldnt have had a brain yet. and what if your 9 year old daughter was raped by her uncle, and pregnant, what would you say? btw thats a true story

I've No surprises

1) Though sex is the method normally utilized to bring progeny into being, such result may not be desired by the entities.


2) The entities may use various methods of birth control to prevent progeny.


3) Methods that prevent conception or that prevent development within the early days after conception are necessary for the well-being of the entities.


4) A decision for abortion at any later stage, for whatever reason, must rest singularly with the pregnant entity.


5) Prior to the time of normal delivery the entity should not be held accountable to others for her actions in relation to her own body or its contents.


6) If the entity's decision is not justifiable, it is still her decision and only she will be held responsible for it in the subsequent analyzation period of her being.

 

I think abortion is a topic that gets way too much attention - particularly from those who either: 1) are not able to make that choice (men), and 2) those who have no business trying to decide whether one might be medically or morally necessary (politicians).
