I believe in pro-choice.
If it were me personally I wouldn't have an abortion unless I was raped and got pregnant due to it, I'd rather choose adoption. But I'm not going to stomp all over someone else's choice though.

dont get an abortion...your killing a baby that would soon have a life...if you decide to have sex with out a condom, then its your responsibility to raise a child...its not the babies fault you got pregno...

first off...sex without a condom can still result in prego... the only true way as we all know is to not do it at all... accidents happen...you must protect yourself...just like car accidents...you have insurance to cover you and protect your quality of life...if you get prego and it was not planned...abortion is your insurance...would you rather have a child when you are ready to be responsible and can provide the best/most? or would you rather bring the baby into the world and give it a half a$$ life? let's be realistic here... all the people that say it's like killing a life...well it all depends on your definition of the word life ... for me it starts at the first breath of air...and the first self consumption of food/nutrients...

It's not your kid...it's a jumble of cells that could become a kid if you let it leech your food =) It's a parasite, really.

I'm pro-life, but I don't preach it.

I may cringe whenever I hear someone mention the word abortion, but it's not my place to tell another how to live their own life.

I am Pro-Choice...I believe that every woman has the right to choose what happens to her body. If you don't want an abortion then don't get one but make sure you are prepared for the hardship you're about to face. Being a teenager and having a child will be hard...especially if you don't have the support (financially and emotionally) from your family. Think about what your life will be like with a child...you will give up your life for a baby, you will have to stay at home at night to change poopy diapers, you will have to wake up in the middle of the night to feed a baby and then still be able to get to school on time and be alert, your friends won't be able to relate to you anymore because you're a mom, the guy will most likely walk away from you and he will probably try to avoid his child, other guys will look at you different..., your life as you know it will end.

When you're young adoption is probably the best thing you can do for a baby.

Good luck happy

Exactly right, you or anyone else, has no right to sentence that innocent baby to 'death' because the mother 'made a wrong decision, it's inconvenient, etc' - it is a baby at conception and a 'gift from God', not 'punishment' as has been put forth lately - you're right, the baby did NOTHING !! http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=e176f8dbf863472356eb

If you don't believe it's right to abort the baby, don't do it.

I don't believe in aborting a baby either since I'm pro life like you.
We should never kill an inicent child. I think abortion itself is real complicated and Not allot of us want to talk about it. But, if you're pregnant, I would just go ahead and have the baby. If you don't feel ready to take care of it, you can give it up for adoption. But, I wouldn't abort it.
That's just my opinion though. I don't like to hear about babies being killed inside the wound. That's something that god created.

amblessed is right, so is all who said that life begins at conception. The unborn are human beings; feeling, hearing, and yes, even seeing.

While in college, I read a medical book that showed pictures of an unborn baby shielding it's eyes from a tiny flashlight being inserted so the doctor could check him/her out.

Also, the baby jumped at a loud sound, and appeared to cry when given a shot all this while still inside, still unborn and only four months along.

Please do not listen to people who say that the unborn is just a jumble of cells or a parasite, because that is very wrong. It's been proven time and time again that our unborn are human in every which way possible. Their reactions at any given circumstance is of a little, innocent baby.

Our innocent unborn babies can't speak for themselves so, it takes people like me, and others who want to save their lives, to speak against this atrocity.

Although I am personally pro life, I am also for the woman's right to choose, for herself, whether she wants to continue a pregnancy or not. However, I am totally against partial-birth abortions, equating them to murder.

I realize that most anti-abortionists base their views upon religious reasons. I have my own religion and it allows for the choice of abortion because it allows for the concept that prior to incarnating the entity chose to inhabit that particular body (the fetus' body) knowing what the probabilities surrounding that pregnancy and subsequent experiences might be. It chose to enter that body for its own purposes and reasons.

Should the woman choose to allow the continuation of the pregnancy, the incarnating entity knows the probabilities of circumstances and events that will influence its life.

I choose

I chose to be born, – to live or die,
Even the sex, that would be I;
I chose the race, from which to appear,
Also my wealth, my health and my fear.

I chose my trials and stumbling blocks,
And the legs I would use, in all of those walks;
I chose my sadness, my joy and my love,
I chose to serve and not be above.

I chose this life – with all of its dues,
And with each dawn, again I choose;
The experiences for me that wait ahead,
To be alive, or be claimed dead.

And of the future lives I've yet,
It is my choice that I begat;
All the things, however pleasin',
That shall befall me in those seasons.

God says in his word.. I knew you from the womb.. before you were conceived...

John the Baptist leaped in his mothers womb, when his cousin's mother, Mary came near, while Jesus was still in her womb. telling us beyond any shadow of a doubt that according the bible, Gods holy word, the unborn baby in the womb, was very intelligent, and full of the holy spirit, already to have been able to know Jesus, in the womb... before either of them were born.

The world... calls a baby.. all kinds of things.. but, God.. calls them precious.

WRONG. Quit lying to people... and quit portraying ALL abortions as late-term.

*Sigh*

To quote my friend Mandyloo, Keep your rosary off my ovaries!

You've heard the religious persuasion, time to hear the scientific one.

While it may later grow into one, a foetus is essentially a parasitic organism. Cold and unfeeling as it may seem, it's scientifically true. A foetus needs a host body to incubate it, and a direct link to the host's food supply to survive. Much like a parasite. People will tell you 'oh, but it's a living thing that thinks and feels pain.' A rather good summary of a very extensive Electroencephalography (EEG, the measurement of electrical activity in the brain) can be found, titled Pain and its effects in the human neonate and fetus by K.J.S. Anand and P.R. Hickey. This excerpt is taken from it:

Functional maturity of the cerebral cortex is suggested by fetal and neonatal electroencephalographic patterns...First, intermittent electroencephalograpic bursts in both cerebral hemispheres are first seen at 20 weeks gestation; they become sustained at 22 weeks and bilaterally synchronous at 26 to 27 weeks.

This is scientifically true, because an EEG involves measuring electrical potential across separated charges. The cortex requires neurons, dendrons and axons with synapses in between to make these measurements possible, and since the human cortex has not developed to that stage until 20-24 weeks into the pregnancy, It is not possible to measure these brainwaves. That is well and truly after the first trimester, which is when most terminations take place. So anything before that is just random bursts of electrical activity- *not* thought.

And while a foetus develops pain receptors/nerves at the very earliest of 8 weeks into the pregnancy, the reality is, without the development of the brain, it would not be able to distinguish the difference between pleasure an pain anyway.

There's the science of it for you.

Orion: How did that answer people's questions? It was just a bunch of footage of terminated foetuses. All that showed me is that you rely on pictures of terminated foetuses to scare people out of terminations, rather than giving them *any* facts. And that is something truly appalling.

Abortion as a method of birth control is deplorable.
And I don't think that ANYONE thinks that abortion is a great thing.
Women aren't lining up, excited at the prospect of having an abortion.
BUT having said that, it is a woman's right to choose.

To each of you that are completely against abortion under any circumstances,
what are you doing to help these children that you INSIST must be born?
Are you working for better education, free healthcare for the children, free childcare services, better social services for the mothers AND the children?
Are you DEMANDING that sex education be taught in the schools?
That birth control be available to women?
Are you protesting that most health insurance will pay for VIAGARA pills for men, but won't pay for BIRTH CONTROL for women?

Or is it JUST about pushing that baby through the birth canal?
To hell what happens to it AFTER the birth?
That, once born, it isn't your problem?

Your arguments about banning abortion would go a lot further IF you backed it up with options.
If you worked for easier adoption laws.
If you wrote your elected officials and demanded that free childcare should be available.
If you went to your school boards and DEMANDED the good sex education programs be taught in your schools.

In other words...
Get off your butts and practice what you preach.
Work for a better world for these children that you INSIST must be born.

For those of you religious people who are against abortion, isn't it said that god doesn't close a door without opening a window?
Well, maybe YOU should help open that window.
Maybe god wants you to work for a better life for those babies that you INSIST must be born.

When you begin to help with the problem of unwanted pregnancy, and that doesn't mean just saying it is wrong, we will listen.
But until you are part of the solution, shut your mouths about the problem.

We were asked for our opinions.
Asked and answered. That is what I gave, my opinion.

Funny you didn't say anything to orion's mother about just being asked for opinions.
She directed people to a website.

But since she agrees with you, it is okay. I get it.
