Can a two man band work?

Hey, I'm thinking of forming a band with a good friend of mine. I can play guitar, keyboard and do vocals, and my friend is pretty decent at drums. Can a two man rock band work? Also do you have any suggestions for mainly chord based rock songs?

I guess a two man band could work, but it will probably be hard. Good luck though.
