I have an interview tomorrow too.. I'm in the exact situation as you, I'm out of work even though I've applied practically everywhere. at my last interview I told them I'd been off for 5 months because I did some travelling (which, in my defense, is partially true, I just went to visit family out east for two days lol). I dont think its too awful you lied, nobody tells the whole truth in these types of situations. I think tomorrow, be yourself, and try to avoid anything that they will find out about later. but just to be clear, I'm not saying lying is good, I'm just saying we all do it.
Lying and interviews: only thing is to watch out that you don't say anything that can later get cross-checked. 'Some travelling' is OK, as long as you don't actually say that you were travelling all the time. Or you could say that you'd been reading up on some subjects that you'd like to study someday (if that's relevant).
Otherwise: power-dressing! Wear something that you know you look good in. Not too fussy and not too provocative.
A good friend of mine who used to work as a model was going in for a (totally different job) interview the other day, and she wrote: 'Red makes a woman look confident. So I've bought myself a red-striped blouse, and am going to wear it with slim black trousers. No jewelry.'
So, if it's not too late, and if you like red - there's a tip!
Good luck for tomorrow. As long as you don't get caught out in the lie it is ok. And anyway travelling can mean a lot of things..you can elaborate if they ask you there.
Then some tips.
Dress appropriately. Please don't go with jeans and too much jewellery. That could really put of a potential employer.
Also go prepared. Even if it is a small company or where ever you are applying for, at least try and find out somethings about the company. Etc, their main business, their client base. Also make sure that you come prepared with any questions that you might have. Potential employers love it when people ask questions, be careful to not ask to much questions
Also then what I found it what works well, is really listening to your interviewer.
Then get enough sleep and don't look tired and make sure that you look confident. Confidence wins a lot of people over
As for that good luck with the interviews. Let us know how it went.
I just got back from the first interview. It went well, I'm sure I impressed them. I even made them laugh a couple of times, as well as explaining that I'm the best person for the job (not just a pretty face, haha). BUT they stressed that I would need to have an interest in accounting to be good at the job...accounting is like numbers and math isn't it? I'm TERRIBLE at that stuff. Im good at arty type stuff like drama art and english...also I didnt ask what the pay is. I felt awkward asking it despite it being an important question. The interview was over before I realised, so I wasn't sure what to do. When is an appropriate time to ask about pay?

3 job interviews tomorrow

3 job interviews tomorrow
I have been unemployed for nearly 5 months now and have been really struggling to get work. I have 3 job interviews tomorrow which im hopeful about. But one of the companies who called me earlier asked me why I have been unemployed for so long. I...
hesitated as I didn't know what was the best answer. I found myself lying and saying that I took a holiday and also moved house and am now relaxed and ready to get into work again. I thought that sounded better than saying well I've applied for close to 100 jobs but have just not had any luck. Is it really bad that I lied??? And any advice for my stressful interview day tomorrow?
