Do XBox 360 cooling systems work?

Alright, thers a number of external xbox 360 cooling units on ebay and stuff for like 15 bucks or so..so just wondering how well do these things work? and do they actually help your 360 last longer by keeping it cooler or is it just something to get money…like how does it work?

They keep it cooler, yes. If you play for several hours at a time, I’d recommend one. The only major drawback, three additional fans will make more noise.

It also depends on the quality of the fans you’re using. The makers of the cooling units (Nyko, etc.) use surplus materials. Thus… louder…

The fans only work if you wrap your 360 up in a towel or something, there is no point to them, only cosmetic (And they look damn awful). if your 360 has plenty of room then your fine.

And about the fans noise. Do you live on another planet Assassin?

Fans work off sensors, so if one fan has to keep something cool it will constantly be on full keeping it keep, whereas 3 fans working together, will use 1/3 less energy to keep it cool. I have 7 fans in my pc. its a DAMN lot quieter than my PC with 2 fans.

The ones on ebay typically are the NYKO intercoolers and they dont work. They rob your 360 of significant power and are pointless because they are placed right over the existing fans. They also have destroyed many XBOX 360s because they are so cheaply made. The only better cooling systems on ebay would have to be the liquid cooling systems but they require certain skills to install them.
