Why does my dog pee every time I touch him?

I have a 7 month old dachshund and every time I try and pet him he pees.. not like a huge puddle but enough to make me get the disinfectant to clean up the mess.. I got him when he was 2 months old, and he used to never do that till he reached his 5 months.. Its really annoying because I can’t pick him up without having him pee all over my chest or all over my floors and stuff. I don’t know what to do! I used to have a dachshund but he passed away almost a year ago and when he was a puppy he never peed when I went to pet him, so I don’t know whats wrong with my new puppy! :[ is he sick? will he ever grow out of it? what can I do to make him stop?

This is submissive urination…and is something you shouldn’t make a big deal out of (that will only make it worse)…usually pups outgrow it…ignore the behavior. At 7 months, he is still just a puppy…

Here’s a good article explaining it, and what to do…

because that’s what dogs do if they’ve been hit. it’s kind of their way of being a chicken shit, or sometimes they’re just to nervous, and they piss themselves. Female dog’s are usually the ones that do it the most.

Answer #3

Just go to the vets and tell them the problem (like bimjob said). Perhaps he has a really weak bladder or something?! = )x

Answer #4

Dachshunds are notorious for incontinence.

It may just be your dog.

But to make sure, take him to the vet and get a physical. Don’t forget to tell the vet about this problem.

Good Luck!!
