Why does mixing Copper sulphate and steel wool become hot?

I am doing my assignment I need fast answers!! When you mix copper sulphate solution in a test tube with steel wool it becomes hot.. Why???

hmmm I suppose the generic answer here is because its an exothermic reaction where the resulting products have less energy the the ones you started with. The energy is lost as heat.
