Why are my cats all of a sudden being so territorial?

I have 4 cats and 3 of them have been fighting like CRAZY lately. They have been around each other for over 5 years now and all of a sudden they have been attacking each other almost daily. And I’m not talking about a little hiss and a swat, they are full out attacking each other. What is all of a sudden causing this? Nothing has changed in the household.

(the ones fighting are 2 females and 1 male - the one starting it all is a female and shes not the oldest)

Well I have a lot of cats too. a lot a lot. But they start wanting one to be the main cat. They will fight. Its just what they do. But you can tame them. And they start when one of them wants to be at a higher rank. Then all the other ones want to too.

Answer #2

They are all fixed except one - I just don’t understand why this is happening after living together for over 5 years. I will definitely purchase a spray bottle though, thanks for the idea.

Answer #3

maybe the cats are going throw some stuff try playin wit the all at the same time 2 see if they start being friends again

I have 3 females and fixed…they run after eachother…taking turns…it’s funny …If you have males…could be the reason…

Answer #6

Steph, which is the one that’s not fixed? If it’s the male, that could be why; getting him neutered will help.

Summer is kitten season. Cats all go into heat…it’s weird that they’ve been living together so long and this hasn’t happened before, but it could be that it’s summer. It could be something as simple as a cat walking around the neighborhood that wasn’t there before. Has anything (anything) changed? Living situation, food, etc?

Answer #7

I would first be sure that everyone is spayed or neutered. That alone will cut down on the aggression issues. Next get a quality squirt bottle and have it at the ready. When you see somthing is about to start then just say no and squirt the offender. If all are involved be sure they all get a little taste of wetness.

Around here I rarely have to even pull the trigger anymore. They just see me pick it up and shake it and the action comes to a halt. Good luck!

you should ask them cause its crazy and we human dont get it. peace
