Who can answer this about eclipses?

This is my science homework tonight and I’m not really into astronomy very much, so can someone answer this? When a solar eclipse happens, why can most people see a partial eclipse and only a few people in the world see a total eclipse?

Because of where people on earth view it from. When the moon covers the sun you need to be in the right position on earth to see it cover the whole sun(total eclipse). It also depends on the distance from earth that the moon is at the time of the eclipse.

If you think about hiding behind a tree from someone. Depending on where you are and where they are, you might be able to see some part of them or none. If you step back from the tree this view will change again. Hope this helps!
