When should I have my dress alterations done?

ok I bought this dress second hand for my farewell but its to big, the farewell is in may so I need to know when I should have it taken in to be altered so I have it back in plenty of time. I need it to be taken in hemmed and have straps put on an idea how long that should take or when I should take it to the place?

It really depends on how busy your seamstress is, how much work she has to do on each piece she has, etc. It took my seamstress nearly 3 or 4 weeks to have my dress completely done the way it had to be.

You have to remember that it’s not just taking it in and whatnot, you also have to go in for fittings to make sure that she doesn’t have to do more work on it. If she has to do more work, there needs to be time to do the changes and have ANOTHER fitting.

My best suggestion? Call the seamstress you’re wanting to have this done by. Let her know exactly what you want done, when you need the dress to be done by, etc. The more details she knows, the more better she can give you an estimate on how much time she’ll need to have it done. If you book early with her, she’ll also be able to schedule you in at an appropriate date. :)

Good luck.

Depends how busy the tailor is that you take it to … but they could have it ready in a day or two… you would have to inquire to them about it… I reccomend leaving it as close to the event as possible because your body might change and the last thimg you want is to find out on the day that it doesn’t fit… Xo:)
