What is means when a guy says...

This guy and I have been dating for about four months now and we talk every night on the phone for hours..in the past few days he has not called that much and had been acting different. He told me he was upset cause his son left for school and he needed some time I understood. Well today he calls saying he cannot move this forward because he still has feelings for his ex and he likes our friendship and does not want to ruin that and does not want to end up hurting me. I was caught off guard so I text him saying so and that I guess it means we will not see each other anymore. He replied with I just felt like I should be honest with you and I did not want to hurt you. I replied with you know how I feel about you and I guess I misinterrpreted your intentions and he said no I like you too and that is my problem I dont know what to do I need some time to sort it out and I do not want you to be mad. Truth is he did hurt me my feelings were involved..where do I go from here? Is there a chance still? And should I avoid contacting him?

I replied with you know how I feel about you and I guess I misinterrpreted your intentions >>He was being nice when he said “ he said no I like you too and that is my problem I dont know what to do I need some time to sort it out and I do not want you to be mad”.

I honestly think you will only be wasting your time waiting for him. He told you he still has feelings for his ex, theres no sense getting in the middle of that!

well ask him if he still wants your friendship. he said he did, so im guessing he doesnt want complete cutt off of contact.

I would say let him sort things out. I do think its best he was honest with you. he may just need closure with his ex, in order for him to fully move on.

just let time heal things.

“Yes, it’s good to have friends of the opposite sex to help you with problems you may not fully understand. Some things just don’t come intuitively to men/women so their friends can help steer them in the right direction.” But then again; Eventually, you may end up liking each other..
