what does this mean when I saw him randomly now hes gone?

Alright, I’m very confused. I don’t know if this means anything but I need someone’s opinion and I need it now because I’m freaked.

Today about 9pm I found out that one of my friends killed himself, shot himself. He was 17, it came as such a shock and I can’t believe or understand why he would do such a thing. We weren’t close anymore but he used to be a good friend of mines younger brother. We are no longer friends but her brother was always sweet and we would always chat in high school.

Last night I dream about him, it was extremely random but he was there. I didn’t understand it at the time bc why would I dream of him? We haven’t spoken in more then a year and have no contact. Since I am no longer in high school. I woke up from this dream early this morning and have no idea when he took his life today. Is there any meaning behind this, why did I dream about him even before I knew he had ended his life.. I’m so disturbed.

Please if anyone has any thoughts please let me know, I don’t know if this was just an unlucky dream but I haven’t thought of him at all. So it is very disturbing that I would dream about him on the day he died or if he had already passed early this morning.

What you’re experiencing is very likely what is known as a false memory. It’s very similar to the deja vu experience. Sometimes our brains misfire and a thought that we just had feels like it happened in the past. Studies have shown that this phenomenon happens frequently when we experience something shocking. When it does happen, you can not tell the difference at all. People who have had false memories implanted during lab experiments will swear up and down that they are real. In a sense, they are real, because they are real memories, it’s just that they don’t correspond to real history.

In other words, it’s very possible that you did not dream about your friend last night, but instead, your brain has miscategorized a daydream or other thoughts you had after learning about your friend, as a dream from the night before.

You’re trying to find meaning in coincidence, meaning where none exists. The very nature of coincidence is to pair two unlikely but seemingly connected occurrences, but to try and read something bigger into it is foolhardy.

Consider this – every other night prior to this dream, you did NOT think of him, and he didn’t kill himself. But yet you are drawing no significant meaning from that, right? That coincidence does not seem significant to you, and neither should this one.

Considering the thousands of dreams you are going to have in your life, dozens per night, all composed of completely random events and images drawn from your waking life, it’s inevitable that part of one dream is going to match up with something in life. You can call it a premonition, you can call it deja vu, you can call it a sign, you can call it messages from God, or you can call it what it is, which is coincidence.

These things just happen…Don’t put yourself in a guilt mode. Enjoy the good things you remember and pray for his family

To nfl ledend, no we didn’t have a fight we just lost contact when I left high school. It’s just so weird that I would have thought of him so randomly on the day he killed himself.

Answer #5

well heck if you belive in the after life then mabey he has un finished busisne with u? did you guys stop being friends on a bad note? or did you just lose contact?

Answer #6

Maybe it was some sort of instinct. Or you may have some type of power? I know that sounds stupid but that happend to one of my friends and when things like that kept happening, they found out that she is sort of…well…psychic

Answer #7

It’s not random at all. Dreams are activated by the mind, it’s all psychological. Whatever you are thinking about or whatever happened that may have some importance to you will sometimes play out in your dreams. For instance have you ever watched a movie then later that night when you go to sleep have a dream about the movie? It’s completely normal. I don’t necessarily think it would be him communicating with you, of course calling me a religious skeptic would be a nice way to describe my beliefs. I’d say however that it’s not impossible, of course if there is an afterlife my whole thoughts on it would be a place of comfort and purity, that in the afterlife you wouldn’t worry about earthly things anymore. I don’t believe in the whole ghost/spirits floating around Earth. Of course that’s just me.
