What are some good facts to help convince mom?

Its hard to make a labret piercing sound appealing to someone adverse to piercings because in all reality they are a pain in the butt. They take forever to heal and while they are healing they hurt. Any lip piercing is annoying to begin with.

My best suggestion would be to do your research. Find a shop in town that has good reviews, is clean, uses medical grade tools and jewelry, and has artists that are friendly (because sometimes the artists and piercers are a little moody)

You will have to keep it clean and take good care of it so it doesnt get infected. When you first get it you can take ibuprofen or the like to keep the swelling down, that will help with the discomfort.

Look up jewelry in different sizes (especially small pieces) so you can show her it doesnt have to be a big, ugly piece of jewelry. And/or show her you can wear a retainer (clear or flesh tone jewelry that can be worn in place of the jewelry, when the ring itself isnt appropriate) to hide it for those trips to church and grandma’s house :)

If she’s anti-piercing its going to be tricky because a labret is right in the middle of your face, so do your best to show her that you can be responsible and take care of it and show her you have options (like hiding it with that retainer).
