When should people start dating?

What age do you think people should start dating? I think every relationship will teach you something and help you grow and learn about what type of guy is right guy for you to marry. I dated this guy in high school for 2 and half years and I kinda regret going out with him that long. Its okay that we dated but I think we dated for too long. After that experiance I decided that I will go on dates with men but not date them for a long period of time until im 23 because I dont think I know myself well enough. relationships are too much of game and are a waste of time when you’re young.

I was raised to believe that one shouldn’t date until one is ready for marriage. I did have a boyfriend when I was thirteen - a boyfriend I never even dated - but I didn’t bother with high school relationships because by then people were taking themselves WAY too seriously and I didn’t want to be one of them.

As for dating as a necessity before marriage, I’m not buying it. A lot of people I know do get married to their first sweetheart (keep in mind these are the same people who had absolutely no dating experience until they were eighteen). The key is to first know your guy as a friend. If you can tolerate him as a friend, chances are you can tolerate him as a boyfriend. As long as “feelings” and commitment exist, it can only go uphill from here.

I dated my first boyfriend for 7 years - from middle school until junior year of college. Though there were times I regretted dating one person that long - I learned SO MUCH from that relationship! I learned what I want out of a mate, I learned how to argue with someone, I learned how to forgive, I learned about heartache, and I learned about patience.

I don’t think a relationship should have a deadline - just go with it and time and your heart will tell you what is right.

You are right - relationships are a game - but you get better at playing when you have experience under your belt.

there really isn’t a SET AGE. whenever you feel you are ready to get into a relationship, is the right age.
