Trust issues need help!

K so I had a great boyfriend, Josh. He lives in another state, so we were doin the long distance thing and it seemed to be working jjust fine. Then my ex boyfreind found out, and got all jealous, saying things like ‘how can you be with him?’ ‘I want you back.’ ‘you must love him more than you love me.’ he was guilt tripping me and it hurt. so I was in a worse mood all the time and it was starting to affect mine and Josh’s relationship in a bad way. I knew that if I got with my ex he’d dump me inside a week and I could go back to Josh. Unfortunately, Josh didn’t see things my way. I called him one night and explained what was going on and he said he understood, and that I deserved someone there with me. I told him it wouldn’t take longer than a week at the most to get my ex off my back. he seemed fine about it. Then he left a thing on myspace saying he was going to kill himself because of me and what I did. I didn’t hear from him for three days. by that time he was still so pissed at me. after a while I got him to listen and I tried to explain my best, and asked him to take me back. he said I’d have to earn his trust first. The only way I can think of to show him he can trust me is to try again, but I can’t do that till he trusts me. I know that if I could go to him and see him and talk to him face to face he’d understand and take me back, but there’s no way I can go all the way to his place in another state. any ideas on how to win his trust back? im so desperate here I want him to forgive me so bad!
