There is a concept called singularity. Technological advances produce positive feedback. Lets say that at some point in time mankind increases his own lifespan faster than we age. This will lead to people living longer and having more time to further work on increasing their lifespan. Anyone alive at the moment of this singularity should live forever.
There could be other singularities. For example when we build the first robot more intelligent than ourselves that robot will eventually build a robot more intelligent than himself with the end result of mankind no longer being necessary for robotic technology to continue to advance. We would create the seed of the very technology that replaces us.
The argument for singularity is the fact that no only is technology advancing but the rate we advance technology is also increasing. We seem to be progressing toward the singularity. The argument against singularity is that there must be some limit to technology that can never be overcome like the speed of light and the Planck constant that will limit technology from ever reaching singularity.
I dont think they'll even be "human" anymore up to a certain age. I mean, they have artificial hearts now and maybe one day they'll have an artificial version of every organ, but if that happens, by the time you're 300, you'll be completely made out of metal and screws. I dont think they can ever replicate the human brain so you might even be a complete robot at some point. Not cool in my opinion.
I seriously doubt that. Our bodies age, you cant stop the aging process. We may be able to appear to be younger but in the end our organs are aging with us and have an expiration date. Who would want to live that long anyways...constantly having transplants to stay alive, living in a hospital, being severly old and wrinkely and miserable...no thank you.
IMO I believe it is very much possible, just recently mice were made to reverse the effects of ageing in labs, all we need to do is increase the rate of regeneration of damaged tissue so that the body does wear down. This may be done by some genetic modifications or using chemicals like anti oxidants etc.
no actually, because it really depends on the genetic life span of the person. as technology gets better and all yeah life expectancy will rise, but i learned in my human disease class that our genetic life span is around 120-140 years. its estimated though. but not a 1000 years old haha
Technology is evolving everyday. And some even incorporate different parts of nature. Almost everything will be bio-mechanical at some point and time and there may actually be a way to make your body younger in some shape way or form.
i think increasing lifespan can be achieved by making certain adjustments in the genetic code, and this might be necessary if we humans are to travel significant distances into outer space
i doubt that. and also i heard the age expectancy for my generation is actually lower cause of all the obese and non active people
