Can telemarketers stop calling you?
I get about 4 or 5 telemarketer calls a day. Can they stop calling you if you play a “prank” on them? Or you say, “stop calling me! Goodbye!” and then hang up? if they WILL stop calling you because of that, can I have some good “prank” ideas?
There is a website…………www. donotcall .gov
You register your phone number there and they shouldn’t call you after that.
It works because I have 4 phones registered on it and don’t receive telemarketing calls.
There is also a toll free number to register with, if I find it will post it for you.
We had exactly the same problems here in Australia. Luckily, a former government introduced a “Do No Call” scheme and that stopped most of them. It hasn’t stopped all of them tho’: in the past week I’ve had three calls from an electricity company wanting me to change to their company.
www.donotcall.gov works, BUT It takes as much as 30 days to become effective, AND The registration never expires on the number(s) you list, AND It will not stop political calls or charity calls (it only works on telemarketers), AND . If you ever agree to a telemarketer calling, they can call (many sweepstakes - where you sign up for a drawing - have fine print that gives them the right to call you!!) It also works with cell phones, BUT note that if you change calling plans you may have to re-register. . IF YOU EVER get a call with an offer to put you on the Do Not Call list - REFUSE.
