Why are teenagers represented negatively in the media?

ok for my english assessment i have to have a quick little bit about why teenagers are represented this way. all so what attitudes, beliefs and values society has on this topic and what does society think of teenagers in general

Personally, I think the media portrays a very negative view of teenagers because that’s what interests people. There’s a show called “Cuff’d” on MTV that is about teenagers getting in trouble with the police. Really? Haha. You never watch or read about a group of responsible teenagers being helpful, probably because that wouldn’t be entertaining or interesting enough for today’s standards. All the media does is dish out negative things… which I think frightens the older generation, lol. I’m not saying most of us are angels, either. Yeah, most of us like to drink and rebel at some point - but that’s natural. It’s just a few that really spoil it for the rest of us. Then the media likes to blow everything out of proportion and therefore give teenagers more of a bad reputation.
