Can anyone summarize the first 9 chapters of "The Witching Hour" by Anne Rice?

well let me go take a look- the chronicles of the mayfair witches are my favorite 3 books ever by the way.

ok here goes.

chapter one we are introduced to aaron lightner and see ‘the talamasca’ mentioned for the first time. on aarons card the saying “we watch and we are always here” we are introduced in the third person to michael the guy that drowned and was revived only to discover he had a new psychic power when he touched someone. we are also introduced to the MAYFAIR clan and their old mansion in new orleans, DR. PETRIE visiting DEIDRE MAYFAIR and her nurse as well as her aunts- MISS CARL, MISS MILLIE and MISS NANCY. we get to hear briefly about the EMERALD which appears to be a family heirloom. we hear about the word LASHER for the first time- carved into the trunk of a tree near the garden as well as written in the dust of a table. we are told about ELLIE MAYFAIR in california who forcibly adopted DEIDRE’S daughter and took her to san francisco. there is mention of STELLA MAYFAIR and the swimming pool behind the mansion. the doctor attempts to touch DEIDRES’ jewels and gets chewed out by MISS NANCY. we hear about the mysterious slender brown haired man that stands beside MISS DEIDRE when she is sitting on the porch. DR. PETRI has a run in with the mysterious man and has the idea placed in his memory that he should not sedate DEIDRE and allow her to wake from her medicatted stupor that she has been in since she was 10 years old or so. MISS DEIDRE whispers the name ‘LASHER”. DR PETRIE has a vision of a ‘ghostly christ like face’ and he phones AARON LIGHTNER and begins to describe the mystery man, AARON lets him know that he is not the only one to view the ‘mystery man’ and that others have described the same man over the years.

thus ends chapter one, i may have to funmail you the remaining eight chapters during the week.

there are lots of details in the beginning chapters- puzzle pieces that we are allowed to see yet not know how they fit together.
