Answer #2

I agree that it is not a sin. (Actually, the concept of sin is one I reject.) However, suicidal ideation - actually envisioning your own death and how you can make it happen - is usually something that so overwhelms your brain that you can’t even envision anything else. It is almost always a temporary condition IF time is allowed to pass. It is quite literally a type of temporary insanity. Keeping someone safe until they have a chance to regain sanity is the only thing to do in a moral society. (Incidentally, IMHO, someone suffering from a painful, debilitating, terminal illness SHOULD be allowed to end their life if they are competent.)

There was a case very recently of a (Jr.?) High School student that committed suicide because she had been bullied for two weeks by one student! You and I know that there were many other options, but in her mind at that time she had no choice. If she had confided in anyone, very probably she would be around and the bully would have been dealt with. Unfortunately, she didn’t. (And know that some secrets between friends CANNOT be kept - and threat of suicide is one.)

Answer #3

“Thou shall not murder” is one of the ten commandments. Suicide is killing/murdering yourself. Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 5:17. But it also not anyones place to judge. Matthew 5:21- “You have heared that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’” Meaning it is Gods place to judge that. Not mine nor anyone else. But God created us because He loves us, to show us love (and God is love) and to show us how to love eachother and especailly ourselves. If you do not know God than you do not know love. 1 John 4:7-8 “Dear friends, let us love one another, for loves comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” John 14:15 “If you love me you will obey what I command” Obviously the one who commits suicide really didn’t know God and love for God is love and couldn’t trust that God was able to deliver him/her out of their hard times. “With God all things are possible” - Matthew 19:26 Anyone out there with suicide tendencies (as I used to be one) - know that God does love you, He just wants you to love Him back. Talk to Him and get to know Him by reading His word (bible) and you will be blown away by His love for you and all that He has for you. Satan is the one that comes to kill and destroy so that you will burn in hell for eternity, but Christ came so that we would have life and have it more abundantly.

Answer #10

Suicide is a sin, because you have committed murder.

However, the good news is that Jesus came to give you life, and that more abundantly. All you have to do is to turn your life over to him, and seek him thru the power of the Holy Spirit, that comes to live within your spirit, when you are born again.

God wants you to find the answers that are illuding you, and to be around people who love you, and will pray for you. He is on your side, and he can and will help you, if you seek him.

Rebuke the thoughts of suicide, in Jesus name.

Answer #11

What bimbo says is totally right. Whatever a person feels right at this moment, it will not last forever. Talk to someone. Find help. A couple months from now you will look back on this time and thank God that you had the courage to get through this and enjoy the sunlight again. Your worry about whether it is a sin tells me that you really do care what happens to people after they die. It says in the Bible that the only way to heaven is through Jesus. (It’s in the book of Matthew, I believe.) Ask Jesus to come into your heart. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and believe me, He will. He will help you. He loves you. Do you have a minister you can talk to? I am already praying for you.

Answer #12

Whether or not it is a sin, it is a sign that the person is going through a very rough time, and can’t see a way out of their situation. What the person can not see is that the situation will be changing. They just have to be kept safe and helped by professionals until they get through the bad times.

If you ever know anyone that is talking about doing away with themselves, you must tell a responsible adult - parent, teacher, doctor, guidance counsellor. EVEN if you have been sworn to secrecy. There are certain secrets that can not be kept - and this is one of them.
