What makes a smart TV just turn on by itself in the middle of the night?

This has been happening lately, day or night. It is not connected to the internet and actually is only used a few minutes a day.

We came home a couple times and it was on……….once we were having dinner in the kitchen and the TV in the living room just turned on.

Last night, (while I was at work) my wife was awakened to “voices” in the living room. She grabbed a pistol and the phone because, being in a deep sleep, she thought someone was in the house………..(good girl)

Turns out it was the TV, she called me and I told her to unplug the thing.

This could be anything from an improper TV setting, to a faulty remote device. There’s literally a long list of possibilities, and they vary depending on the make and model of your particular television.

The best thing you can do is call the customer service number for your brand and get them to do a walkthrough with you to find out what’s causing it.

Good idea. I hate to unplug it cause now I have to re-program it. I’m glad you mentioned the remote because in the meantime will leave the batteries out of it until needed.
