Small Rutgers Tomatos

My Rutgers Tomato plant is yielding lots of tomatoes but very small.Anyway to encourage larger tomatoes?

Fertilize & water. Prune so you have fewer vines. Google for more pruning info. It’s a bit involved.

If you really want size and don’t care how many you get, you can remove some of the flowers and the remaining tomatoes will be larger.

Tone: from everyone I know who has planted tomatoes this season, they are finding non-producers, or the tomatoes are quite small compared to the size they are supposed to be - it’s the crazy weather we’re having all over the United States. Rutgers, usually, produce a decent-sized tomato. It may be the ‘crazy” weather, or it may be due to the lack of bees - “the lost bee syndrome,” or any beneficial bug that would pollinate your tomato plants. You may have to live with your small Rutgers this season, and hope that the “lost bee syndome” is solved. Good Luck!
