Who has sickle cell, and what are your symptoms like??

yeah your 19, you dont have sickle cell, its a genetic disease and you wouldve been diagnosed at birth.

No to sound offensive to anyone, but I though you had to have African ancestry to have sickle-cell.

not necessarily. it is more common in the african ancestry. you can be non african and have sickle cell but thats even more rare. but this sparked a debate years ago when they found that “blacks” had the more likely hood of getting sickle cell and they(the science and medical community) wanted to have them go thru a genetic screening but they thought it was racist when that came about haha lil history there

well my g-pop had sickle cell so my mom thought maybe, but my appointment is cuz I’ve been having unbearable pains in my arms every once in a while.

ahh no sickle cell can kill you, and if you werent diagnosed by now you dont have sickle cell. and also sickle cell is extremely painful, and it would be all over pain not just in your arms

it could be something simple like your neck outta place. i get pains like numbness down my arms when my neck is out. i go to a chiropractor to get it adjusted and its good. its probably nothing serious

White people can also get sickle cell, we had a little boy in our pharmacy that had it. It is just more common amongst black people.

Agreed, sickle cell is picked up during early childhood and children are OFTEN very sick with it.
