Sick of being "just the friend"- Do girls actually like "nice guys"

Throughout High School, I was always picked on and teased, and it kind of taught me about humility and trying to be a good person, coupled with the fact that I have very mild Autism, which also taught me a lot, and so, aside from my best 2 friends, most of my “buddies” were girls, because I always tried to be gentle and nice to everyone. I didn’t want to be an *hole like everyone else. Hence, girls felt safe talking to me, and I kind of took on the honorary role of the “gay friend”.

Now, in college, I’m continuing to be that guy around girls, and it’s killing me. I’m 22, never even had a date, only kissed a girl once, etc. And the only girl I’ve ever really cared about is just friends with me because I’m act so nice and easy to talk to. And the truth is, I’m really only that way around certain people- in reality, I’m a fun-loving, average-guy. I just feel better to be nice and respectful socially.

Ladies… do you actually like the nice guys at all? Because I like to think I’m one, but it’s gotten me nowhere.
