showing dogs???

To show in an AKC show, dogs cannot be neutered or spayed…people who win Best of Breed classes, or even Best of Show, often put them up for stud, or breed their female, because they have all the best qualities of that particular breed. That said…and since I know more about German Shepherds than other breeds…The show ring German Shep is not at all like it’s “working” counterparts. they aren’t built the same, think the same, or act the same. The “working” dogs are not shown in the ring, but shown in “sports”…such as Schuzehund…these dogs get “titled”, and are also used for breeding. The working types are what you see in the back of a police car.

There are many good breeders who do not show, but have show animals in their pedigrees…who xray hips and elbows, etc etc…because they want to improve the breed, even if they aren’t headed for the show ring.
