Shoplifting

Hi I’m 17 years old and I was cought shoplifting in victoria seceret. I know it sounds horrible but please don’t judge me, I was under peer presure and I didn’t know what to do and I have never done anything that can cause me to get anything put on my record. Anyway, when we were caught I had to sign some papers and got my picture taken and they said I would be recieve a letter in the mail. I still haven’t got the letter and I’m scared it’s going to go on my record and I can’t enlist in the military. Would someone please tell me if I should even bother going back to their office?

I’ve been arrested for shoplifting and I was handcuffed and went to the police station and there they took my picture and I filled out some paperwork. and they put me on the IIP program(not sure what it stands for) and all I have to do it comunity service an never do it again. practallly a get out of jail free card with some work. did you get hand cuffed and go to the police station? well if you didnt then you probably didnt get charged. and also while I was sitting in the backroom of claires waiting to get hand cufffed, the manager said to the officer, “I want to have her charged to the fullest extent” so if they didnt say that then your good. but you do know you can be tried as an adult? yeah not cool. its 5 years gone. but you should go to the office and see if your gonna get tried or on your record. dont be afraid to go. its better than not knowing. isnt it?

It’s okay all of you guys did it so at least you weren’t alone and just try to get passed it, we’ve all done it before but it’s okay some of us just weren’t caught and we learned from mistakes just take it that under peer pressure you need to learn to make the correct decisions.

haha dont worry about the military thing. unless it was a felony or something you can still enlist. they will understand. people ahve done far worse things and still enlisted.

Answer #4

First of all, stop making excuses - you did something wrong, just admit to it and move on.

Were you formally charged, or was it just the store who took your photo and made you sign papers? If you weren’t formally charged by the police, it’s not on your record and all you have is a record at the store office that you are not to go to that store anymore.

Answer #5

No I wouldnt bother if I were you. I understand your position. I shoplifted make up products with friends on 2 occasions because of peer pressure. They put it in my bag even! I have never felt the desie to do that again myself. Realise that it is wrong and pls dont break the law again. You probs will have it on record but it may just be for a while. Best way to find out is with the police!
