How exactly does "the secret" work?

I’ve read the book, I’ve watched the movie but I just don’t get it. Well actually I get it but I can’t help but think that no this thing can’t work, it can’t be that easy! Does the secret work for anyone of you? If it does, please help me and tell me exactly how you supposed to use it. Thanks :)

To summarize it in the simplest possible terms, you need to think positively to get what you want. For example, if I want to land a particular job, I think positively about it … I “will” get this job. If you carry on as though you are already guaranteed what you want, you are restructuring the universe to bend to your will.

Do I think it works? Yes, I do … I adapted to this way of life several years ago and it has never failed me. It is that easy.

Even if you don’t want to make the jump in belief that you are bending the universe to your will, the fact you look confident that you WILL get the job (or whatever you are going for) helps your case anyways. If you are unsure of your self and shy it hurts your chances with many things in life. People want to put trust into someone who seems like they know what they are doing. Whether you are 100% sure of yourself or not, if you can give off the impression that you know EXACTLY what you are doing, other people with follow that.
