Are scientists working on making the dead come back to life?

Like skeleton dead…(dumb question)

Answer #1

I’m not sure about that, but I vaguely remember seeing a documentary in class about Ray Kurzweil, a scientist. It’s been a while so I may be a little off, but essentially he’s hoping that one day we can fuse our biological processes with computers to sustain life and have greater working memories. Ultimately, he believes we can learn to avoid death altogether.

Answer #2

It is hard to define what death is. We used to consider a stopped heart to be death but doctors have gotten rather good at starting it up again and surgical patients connected to a heart lung machine can survive hours with no heartbeat. When doctors started doing organ transplants they started recognizing brain death. Brain dead refers to someone who’s body is alive but they are in a persistant vegetative state with no hope of regaining consciousness. People like this are ideal organ donors since tissue quickly starts decaying when blood flow is stopped. Under normal circumstances doctors have little time to resuscitate patients who’s heart stops because before long the patient will have too much irreversible brain damage to ever regain consciousness. Doctors will continue to get better at reviving patients who’s heart has stopped but there will be no way to get back someone who has been dead for hours just like you can not get back what was in a computer’s memory before it crashed (assuming no core file).

Answer #3

I have heard of Military Scientists, working on an injection. I can’t be sure what it is, maybe a virus of some sort. But what they plan to do is to make dead cells within the body, return to life. When an organ dies, it is most likely because of the lack of cells. To create such a thing, means if an organ were to die (Like the heart of example) the injection could run to the area and rebuild the cells. I am not sure if it is taking one false cell and having the course of cell division take place. It would possibly be the same for the brain, lungs, liver. Any organ basically. To die from natural causes (Old age) I’m guessing it would be a different story. Not to sure though.

Answer #4

In some cases, scientists already do that. They can chill a body to extremely low temperature and stop the heart. When do operation, rewarm the body and restart the heart. They can sometimes revive people who have been cold and dead for many minutes. Life is complex chemistry.

Answer #5

Hmm…cool…thanks.

Answer #6

I have heard they are working on immortality, but i think that will be a long way off yet. but the dead back to life how weird would that be !

Answer #7

That would be pretty cool to see.

Answer #8

yes there have been a number of outbreaks of the virus. but of course the gov. covered it up
