I feel like people at my college go out of their way to avoid me and the only thing i could think of why they would be doing that is the obvious scars on my arm.
It might be, that they are a little insecure about it. That they don't know whether they should mention the scars, whether they should pretend that there are no scars... I have a friend who had a depression episode and who has tried to kill herself. She has scars from that. Strangers are often uncomfortable with it. Because they do notice the scars. The scars are obvious. And unless you know a person well, you just can't figure whether they are more comfortable with you pretending not to notice or whether you want them asking questions about it.
So there is a chance that people avoid you in order to avoid an accidental blunder.
So what can you do? I think the easiest would be that you speak openly about where your scars are from and just let people in your college know that they can mention the subject without embarrassing you. That will quickly do away with all the awkwardness.
Either that or - if you absolutely do not want anyone to speak to you about it - hide them, so people can go on pretending nothing is unusual. I know that it's stupid because by now anyone who notices that kind of things will know ayway. But yet, people tend to be able to deny and make themselves forget things they don't see. And they will.
Yet I would advise you to just be open about it. No one will come up with the subject if you don't start talking about it first. But as soon as you do, everyone will relax.
Honestly, I would in some ways. I have some likely unfair views on scars like that. I mean, I've never completely ignored someone with self harm scars, but they aren't the first person in the room I'm going to sit next to and have a conversation with. Of course, there are so many factors that play into that.

Thats dumb if they do well then F uhm, there many people who wont avoid you because of that
That's dumb, I've never avoided someone because of scars or anything like that...
