Me and my boyfriend started off having sex just using a condom, after a month of two we decided upon starting to use the pill. I am on the second week of my first packet and we recently had unprotected sex, personally I am not to worried about this but for clarification, it is fairly safe to just use the pill while having intercourse , as we both are completely clean with no sti's so the only risk is unwanted pregnancy how ever the chances are incredibly low., right?
Irene, I thank you for the reassurance you have provided to me. I have never missed my pill or taken it more than an hour late, therefore I believe I have taken it correctly ever day. My nurse who provided me with the contraceptive pills continueousely reinforced the statement 'as soon as you take it, you are instantly protected' how ever this initially didn't seem right to me. Upon my independent research, many forms and health care websites suggest that a condom or other methods of protection should be used in the first week, other websites stated that a condom or other methods should be used during the first two packets of pills. So after discussions with my boyfriend we agreed upon using a condom regularly, however this incident wasn't so much as planned, as it was unexpected. We have both agreed that the week of the withdrawal we shalt have intercourse and the following week of re-starting the pills we will plan to use condoms. Yes, it is safe to only use the pill if you use it correctly. Used the same time every day it can be up to 99% effective. I am slightly concerned though had sex within the first two weeks. It should be ok, as technically the pill only takes 10 days to work effectively, but it would have been better had you waited slightly longer, just to be sure. Please do remember that you won't be protected for your first withdrawal bleed i.e. period and that you should use protection then. Other than that, if you are sure you are both monogamous, great stuff, go ahead, the pill is a great option.
The pill is highly effective, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it failing. Just be mindful of your body and be vigilant regarding possible signs of pregnancy just in case. Although their effectiveness is not always supported, you could always use a spermicide gel for lubricant to further decrease the chances of pregnancy, lol. My ex-girlfriend used the pill for about 3 years and we had no problems with it.
The pill is usually quite acceptable to use as your primary contraceptive however I do know people who have fallen pregnant while taking it. It's not 100% but then again, apart from abstinence, nothing is. There's always going to be risks involved with sex. Just make sure you're mature enough to deal with whatever comes with it.
Although I am full aware of the risks of the unfortunate event of the pill not working properly, we decided upon using the pill as an 'extra precaution' as we normally do use a condom aswell, this incident however was fairly random.
Despite the knowledge of the risk of an STI it is unlikely, as we both have and never have had a sexual transmitted infection. Though I thank thee for reinforcing that risk.
unproteced sex is very dangerous. You need to keep in mind that the pill doesn't always work, and also the pill does not protect against STIs
the pill helps in a way but yet people fall pregnant, like my gynie said the pill is not enough you have to wear condoms as well
