Can roasted and salted seeds still germinate?

I am saving all seeds/bulbs/saplings/even pinapple tops and growing them. Just curious as to the probability of this actually working.

Answer #1

i think it can.

Answer #2

Depends on the species. Some trees (sequoia for example) will naturally germinate after bush fires, when all other shrubbery is gone. They will not germinate without heat. If you wish to grow a sequoia tree in your garden, you will need to put the seed in the oven first.

Other species of plant are less heat resistant.

Salt is only harmful if th seed normally has got water inside. The salt removes all water and thus conserves plant or meat. If however it is a species that doesn’t usually have water in the seed, the salt might do no harm.
