How do you remove ash stains from a tan, suede sofa safely?

The ash tray fell on our tan, suede sofa. We vacuumed up the ashes the best we could, but since it is a light colored sofa, and it’s suede it left a gray stain and it looks horribly dirty.

How can we removed the stain easily without damaging the suede, or causing discoloration?

We are looking for easy, home remedy type solutions. We thought about using carpet cleaner or stain remover on it…but we don’t have any, and we’re not even sure if that would work or be safe to use on our sofa.

Any suggestions?

Using a white cloth, sponge the stain with a dry-cleaning solvents. Blot until the stain is gone. Repeat this until the stain disappears.

Answer #2

just read this on a site for you!

  1. Remove dry stains and marks from suede by gently rubbing a pencil eraser on the affected area.
  2. For wet stains lay a paper towel on top of stain to absorb most of the liquid.
  3. Do not apply any kind of stain remover or other products, especially if you want to have it professionally cleaned. This can interfere with the cleaning process.
  4. Brush with a suede brush.

Hope this helps

What kind of dry-cleaning solvent? Would baking soda work?

Answer #4

Yes, that could work. Oxy clean works nice as well
