Red and sore vagina, what is it from?

ok, so I had really irregular periods, and I didnt have one for 3 months. so the doctor told me to take some hormone balancing capsules, which I did, and I ended up having like 3 all in one month, so I was on my period for around 3 weeks. I’ve been off for about a week now, but the area around my vagina is quite red and a bit soar, and can be a little itchy. is this just because of the lengthy time wearing sanitary towels and them irritating my skin a bit down there? I’ve looked around online and im not sure if thats all it is or if it could be thrush or something. I spoke to a friend who did have thrush before, and she said that it was extremely itchy all the time, whereas mine is more just feeling a bit sensitive and a bit soar and its red in appearance. anyone had anything like this would appreciate some advice/comments please? also things online give various types of discharge as a symptom, I dont really have any discharge, some small amounts, which is generally clear or some bits are drier and stringy and more of a yellow colour, but it is very small amounts and not frequent. very confused and nervous.

also, just to add to my question above, after being on for the third time, I kept wearing pads for about 3 days to be sure it had stopped, after it was so irregular, and in these three days I didnt change them very frequently, possibly just once a day, could this have contributed to the irritation? after getting hot or something?

Well first of all you shouldnt have your period for 3 weeks so you really should go in to see the doctor about that, the hormone pills are not supposed to do that, and they may need to switch you to something else. It sounds as if it is just irritation, that happened to me. For the future (hopefully it wont happen again but if it does), try wearing the thinnest possible pad (ofcourse the smallest that is practical) and change frequently… Go see the doctor, they’ll be able to see what the problem is.

what you’re describing sounds exactly what used to happen to me! Its red and itchy but it kinda hurts a little, no discharge, and it happens when my periods end. I got this cream from the doctor because it was bothering me and he told me that I am allergic to those sanitary napkins I use. I am allergic to those ones that have a sort of shiny surface - specifically “always” brand. Get rid of those pads in your cupboard and get the ones that have NO odor added to them, and don’t ever buy that brand again. I hope you get better!
