RACISM

Who else is sick of hearing all of the racial commets. I voted for McCain not because he is white but because I didnt beleive Obama would follow through with all his promises, he said what he had to in order to win, as they all do. Yes some people voted based on color but not all did, so cant this world just have a new beginning and forget about all of this racial crap

Are you poeple completely clueless? Do you not understand the significance of this event? It was only 60 years ago that blacks were not allowed to vote in the south, segregation and Jim Crowe were alive and well, and lynchings were accepted as a way of life. So the fact that this country could come together in such overwhelming numbers behind an african american is remarkable and something that should be celebrated.

Some people are using the fact that 95% of blacks (not 97) voted for him is somehow being racist, or only voting based on race. Gore and Kerry got 90% of the black vote. So it had little to do with race. They would have voted for hillary in similar numbers. When Obama announced his candidacy, he had no where near 90% support. In fact he did not have much support at all from blacks during the early part of the campaign, because many african americans thought a black candidate would never be truely viable. It wasn’t until he won Iowa that the support began to coalesce.

We are not celebrating that he won the presidency because of his race, it is because he won despite his race. That his ability to lead and inspire transcended his race.

^my bad, he is muslim. sorry- I was misinformed by my history teacher.. lolz, isn’t that ironic?

Answer #3

I’m so sick of it. I read someone on this website saying “OBAMA IS A MUSLIM AND HE’S GOING TO GET HIS TERRORIST FRIENDS TO BOMB US!”

I can’t believe anyone could be that racist. HE’S NOT EVEN MUSLIM!

Answer #4

Well this was to be expected, remember earlier we were trying to figure out who was oppressed more blacks or women? And that by answering that question we could determine who the best canidate was. I bet there is a jewish democrat out there thinking damn I should have ran.

Answer #5

All you heard from the candidates throughout their entire campaigns was that none of it was racial. But Tuesday night they start airing civil rights related things after Obama won. Not to mention that all the news centers done graphs of how other race’s voted for Obama. It was really a election based on racial bias from the beginning, and that just makes me sick.

Answer #6

who cares…obamas president and there will be racism untill the end of time.

Answer #7

I agree! when I was watching The Tv last night, well they make it more about racism! the news didn’t have to show how many african americans voted for obama which was 97% and 2% voted for McCain. that kind of stuff makes it impossible for us to say its not about color. Yes it is a historical event and I hope Obama does follow through with half of the promises.

key word Hope.

Answer #9

“I bet there is a jewish democrat out there thinking damn I should have ran.”

I am jewish and I do not believe we will ever or at least for a very long time see a jew nominated by either party to run for president.

Think about all the idiotic comments made about Obama. “He’s a terrorist” or “He’s an arab”.

I can just hear what they would say if a jew ran. “He/she killed christ” or “He/she wants to kill christians”.

There is much too much focus in this country on religion.
