You need to learn from an artist or you will not learn correctly. This isn't something you can really learn to do at home. This is advice from an artist for over 10 years.

If he knows he is color blind, and knows that it is a detriment to his tattoo artistry, he may consider you an ideal apprentice.
Well i want to possibly make it a career and wanted to get practice early. I don't plan on tattooing myself
All the tattoo artist in my town aren't very good. One guy is even colored blind. =T
