What was the point of learning cursive in grade school?

I’ve come to realize I spent half my grade school life learning cursive just to never use it right after getting out. Has anyone ever found cursive a useful skill to have learned?

Answer #1

I have nooo idea… I never use it anymore. The only time I use it is if I’m messing around with friends and seeing how bad our cursive is..

Answer #6

proper cursive?

Answer #7

Proper cursive is just a base…you eventually define your own style, but by learning how to do it in the first place, you can evolve into what becomes your own handwriting.

if you havent taken your SATs yet, then youll understand lol

Answer #9

I only write in cursive. I didnt know people wrote any other way? Seems it is faster than any other form. Writing individual letters seems long and annoying. And impossible if you’re trying to write out exactly what someone is saying.

Answer #10

I kind of write in a messy half printing, half cursive, works fastest for me. So I suppose it helped there.
