I am 15 and have been training in martial arts for about two years. I have used a sword in class multiple times and am very interested in training with them. My instructor has agreed to train me and I would like to purchase a training sword, and then possibly a real one with my own money. However, my parents are worried I would injure myself and have said no, even to the training sword. Is there any way to convince them it is safe? They have seen me handle a real sword before and I did the drills perfectly and have never injured myself with one.
I think you should just invite them to taste the wrath of your nunchuks, if they can't even see the benefits of getting you a nice Samurai training sword for Christmas.
My mom was also worried about it with my brothers and I but we convinced her by telling her it will help us out in the future if anything were to happen to us.
