…and who are these “people” you’re referring to? Nobody just offers you a scholarship- you have to earn it.

Almost always though, you have to go through an application process because a lot of students are in need of scholarships and general financial aid, so organizations that offer those programs generally select students from a large application base.

Your school should have information on scholarships being offered, and there are an endless list of websites that will also help you seek out the more obscure, more tailored, scholarships for you to apply.

When you’re thinking of studying abroad, you need to think seriously about where you’ll be trying to go. Other countries have certain requirements in addition to tuition costs and program fees. For example, in addition to having SAT scores, you’ll also have to take various language tests and equivalencies to see if you meet the international school’s standards for admission.

That is true in general. Although I have been offered money before to attend schools without applying (one even offered 75% tuition and 6000 living expenses). So it kinda does depend.
